Budynek, w którym obecnie mieści się hotel, był kiedyś siedzibą Zakładu Ubezpieczeń Robotników od Wypadków Królestwa Czeskiego. Jeden z najsłynniejszych mieszkańców Pragi, Franz Kafka, pracował tam przez 14 lat, od 1908 do 1922.
